On my merry “Yay, it's Friday!” way to our office this morning, my day just got that much better because in my view was the most beautiful, vibrant rainbow. It was huge! It seemed as if if I had rolled down my passenger side window, I could touch it. (That is if I had a five foot arm to even reach the window).
You know what I love about rainbows so much? The colors! I love everything about colors. We're surrounded by them all the time, and they can be totally inspiring. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite color is, I just resort to yellow, because well, I really like yellow. But just between you and me, I can't choose a favorite. I simply like them all.
On the topic of color—and trying to connect it to Personalized Ribbons—our ribbon collection comes in a generous array of colors. Bronze, hot tomato, mocha, canary, candy pink, emerald. Now do those just sound magical, or what?
Continuing with this conversation of ribbon colors, have you noticed that first place ribbons are always blue? It's true! And second place ribbons are always red. And yellow is always the color of the third place ribbon. (These color designations apply only to ribbons awarded in the United States).
The blue ribbon is recognized as the most distinguished ribbon. Wikipedia expounds on this recognition:
“The blue ribbon is a term used to describe or symbolize something of high quality. The usage came from The Blue Riband, a prize awarded for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by passenger liners—and prior to that from Cordon Bleu which referred to the blue ribbon worn by a particular order of knights. The spelling blue riband is still encountered in most English-speaking countries, but in the United States, the term was altered to blue ribbon, and ribbons of this color came to be awarded for first place in certain athletic or other competitive endeavors...”

So next time you see a rainbow, you might now be reminded of ribbons and they're many colors!
