Use Ribbons for Scrapbooking

When you finally have the time to sit down and commit hours to scrapbooking, you might be at a loss as to where to start.

Filling the pages with pictures is only one step of the creative scrapbooking process. Then comes decorating the pages with colorful stickers, cutouts, words, images and clip art, which can be a daunting task. But ribbons can help make the job a little easier!

Ribbons and scrapbooking go together like peanut butter and jelly. Here are a few ways you can use ribbons in scrapbooks:

1. Paste award ribbons on the pages. If you (or your kids) have received award ribbons over the years for contests, races, or competitions, scrapbooks are the perfect place to put those on display.

2. Don't have award ribbons for events or competitions you want to scrapbook? You can order place ribbons to decorate a page with. We have a variety of place ribbons, from track ribbons, to generic ribbons for "1st", "2nd," etc. places. These ribbons will add more literal and visual elements to scrapbook pages.

3. Use ribbon rolls to create bows or page accents. You can either customize a ribbon ribbon roll with text or images, or you can leave the rolls blank. But thin ribbon rolls are perfect for creating page borders and accent ribbons. You can even tie bows around pictures or cutouts to create a present or gift look!

4. If you're part of a scrapbooking club, consider investing in imprinted ribbons as a group to highlight special occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. in scrapbooks. If you buy in bulk, it's less expensive.

5. Don't know what you need your ribbons to say? You can order blank ribbons and write or print on them yourself! They come in dozens of colors, so there will be one for every occasion or page!

Product Spotlight: Full Color Achievement Award Ribbons

Just because the school year is coming to a close doesn't mean teachers stop planning! How will your classroom look next year? What will your theme be? What will you try differently next year?

One thing to consider is how you're going to reward your students in the upcoming year. For elementary and middle school students, our full color achievement ribbons might be the perfect solution.

They come in 17 different titles, from "Awesome" to "Student of the Week," to "Super Reader" to "Perfect Attendance." There's a ribbon for every achievement you can imagine, so the ribbons allow you to recognize even the smallest accomplishments.

Why Choose Full Color Ribbons? The Pros and Cons

This week we'll explore some of the differences and advantages between Imprinted Ribbons and Full Color Ribbons. Both are excellent products and have uses that they are best for.

First, let's explore the process itself. For an Imprinted Ribbon, a raised
“stamp” is made of whatever you're putting on the ribbon, and this stamp
uses heat to press a thin foil onto the surface of the ribbon. For a
Full Color Ribbon, inks are used to print directly on the surface of the
ribbon.

Here are some pros and cons:

Imprinted Ribbons Pros

The only way to get a shiny, metallic look to the contents of the ribbon.
If you need it to sparkle, Imprinted is the way to go!
Imprinting ribbons is typically faster than getting the Full Color ribbons – production times can be as much as 5 DAYS faster!

Imprinted Ribbons Cons

Imprint will not hold super-fine detail, so text and graphics must be kept larger.
Limited to one or two color choices from a limited palette of 5 options.
Main ribbon surface will be one solid color, chosen from a list of 46 ribbon colors.
Available only with “pinked” ends (ends of ribbon are cut in a zig-zag pattern
to prevent fraying), or with one end cut into a “fishtail” (large “V”
removed from ribbon end).

Full Color Ribbons Pros

No limits to the number of colors used, with almost any color possible!
Captures detail finer than what Imprinting will hold, so you can do whatever you need to with your text and graphics!
You can create a multi-colored background instead of a solid color! Have a
gradient, a design, a photo – almost anything you can imagine!
Available in a variety of shaped finishes – choose from the standard “pinking”
or “fishtail”, but also have the top pointed, flat, or hemmed!

Full Color Ribbons Cons

There are no metallics possible.
Production time is typically around 7 business days, so you will need to plan ahead.

So if your next ribbon project will just be something plain to go on a
name badge and designate key people at next week's gathering, Imprinted
ribbons will work great. But if you've got a bit more time, and want

Showing School Spirit With Custom Ribbons

For many high school girls, playing sports is an outlet to be both competitive and social. Sports offer a chance to show and emulate school spirit, while making friends and working toward a common goal.

Yes, girls get sweaty, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to add a cutesy element to their uniforms. One way female athletes can add a touch of "girl" to their sports attire is with spirit ribbons.

Here are a few ideas we have for custom spirit ribbons:

Print your high school's initials (i.e. East High School=EHS) on a ribbon roll in one of your school's colors.
Customize the ribbons for a specific sport. Print volleyballs, pom-poms, soccer balls, or track shoes (depending on what sport the ribbons are for) on the ribbon in your school's color.

8 Ways to Use Award Ribbons at School

Awards are essential to encouraging growth and reiterating good behavior in young students. An inexpensive and fun way to award students is with award or achievement ribbons: they're durable, creative and a permanent reminder of an achievement. So when is it okay to give out award ribbons? Almost always.

Here are a few situations we came up with:

"Super Student" award for good scores on tests or assignments
"Participant" award for participating in a school-wide activity or assemby
"Super Citizen" award for helping other classmates
"Perfect Attendance" award for not missing a school day for 3 months
"Reading Star" award for accelerating in reading comprehension (perfect for other subjects as well, like science, math, music, etc.)
"Happy Birthday" ribbons for the birthday boys and girls
"____ Winner" award for any contest winners! Have a spelling bee, or a drawing contest and give the winners award ribbons
"Student of the Week" award for outstanding students. This gives everyone a chance to feel special, and it will motivate students to strive to do their best.

Create Custom Bookmarks with Ribbon

Our custom vertical ribbons are versatile; you can use them for events, conventions, awards and much more. But one of the often forgotten uses of these ribbons is for custom bookmarks.

Simply design your ribbon and hand them out as bookmarks. Give them out to your students as rewards for accelerating in reading comprehension. Or give them out during church on Sunday to your congregation so they can use the bookmarks in their scriptures.
