Learn the difference between raster (bitmap) images and vector images. Follow the guidelines provided to prepare your artwork for submission. Be ready to provide quality artwork so that your personalized products may be produced in a timely manner.
All artwork will be reviewed by a designer and adjustments will be made to your order if necessary. These adjustments will be shown on your proof prior to production. If any adjustments to your artwork must be made by Personalized Ribbons, additional charges may apply. Please use this guide to make sure your artwork is acceptable.
Imprinted Ribbons require black and white, one-color vector art. Full Color Ribbons may be created using vector art or high-quality bitmap files (300 dpi minimum).
VECTOR FILE FORMATS: Encapsulated postscript (.eps), Illustrator (.ai), CorelDraw (.cdr)
For the best results, we recommend submitting all artwork as vector files (.eps, .ai, .cdr) with all text converted to curves or outlines. If you zoom in on a vector file the colors remain clear, the edges clean and well defined. However, unless you have a vector program on your computer such as Illustrator or CorelDraw, you may not even be able to open or view these files. But, that's okay because our design team will open your files and provide a proof for your approval.
BITMAP FILE FORMATS: Image files (.jpg, .gif, .png, .tif, .bmp), Photo Shop (.psd), PhotoPaint (.ppt)
The quality of your printed ribbons is dependent upon the quality of the artwork submitted to Personalized Ribbons. An image from the internet (usually a .jpg, .png, or .gif saved at a resolution of 72 dpi) that looks great on your monitor will not print well. When you zoom in on a low-quality bitmapped image you will see squares, rough edges and uneven colors. High-quality image files (300 dpi or better) may be used for full color printing.
We know that the process of preparing and sending your artwork can be a complicated and sometimes be a frustrating experience. Should you have any questions, or require assistance, please contact us at:
If you have used fonts (text) in the creation of your file please convert them to curves or outlines; if this is not possible it may be necessary for you to provide the necessary font files.
If you are sending a compressed file, please make sure it is a self-expanding file or that it is compressed using WinZIP.
Unfortunately, we cannot consider photocopies, business cards, faxes, letterhead or other printed products to be camera-ready artwork. We can quote most jobs by using such artwork, but we cannot use this art for production.
Artwork submitted should be PC compatible. If you want to submit files that have been created on a Macintosh, please convert ALL text to curves and save in a PC compatible format.
Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors are the best way to let us know what colors are expected. We make reasonable efforts to match these colors; however we do not offer exact color matches due to limitations of the production processes.
The color of imprinted logos and surfaces are limited to available materials.
Variations in materials, printer ribbons, equipment, and environmental factors preclude any guarantee of color.
Vector artwork is required for all ribbon orders with a graphic (Logo or other artwork). A bitmap image can't be converted to a vector file by saving it in a vector format; when this is attempted the image is simply embedded in the new file and no conversion takes place.
If you don't have a vector file, we offer an artwork clean-up/conversion process of $30.00 per image. If you elect to have your artwork cleaned/converted, you will be charged for this service, even if you don't ultimately place an order (The vector file will be sent to you upon payment.) There is a 24 hour turnaround time required for this service and no expediting option is available.
Stamps used for ribbons will not be saved unless specifically requested. If requested, additional charges may apply to retain them for 18 months.
Personalized Ribbons gives you the option to send us your own layouts for ribbons. Since it saves us time, we'll cut your set-up fee in half!Instructions and Templates.
All artwork will be reviewed by a designer and adjustments to your order made if necessary. All adjustments will be shown on your proof prior to production.
All art received by Personalized Ribbons must comply with all trademark, copyright, patent or related laws or acts and are the responsibility of the customer. Customer assumes full responsibility for all claims and/or litigation arising from alleged infringement of licenses, patents or copyrights on any requested design or copy.
