Creative Ribbons: Around Your Home

Ever wonder what people really do with all those ribbon rolls?
Here’s an idea to get your creative juices flowing: use them around your home!

When most people think of ribbon rolls, they consider wrapping presents or decorating for a party or some other function. Some people, however, think “what can I do with this that will really make it quirky?”

Here’s a few ideas to use up all those little strips you might have laying around. While most of these don’t require a personalized ribbon roll, each project is even more personal when they are used. So, grab whatever you can and let’s get started.

One of the easiest ideas is to simply find groups of things to tie together. From flowers and vases to other decorations around your house, there are plenty of things to tie a pretty bow around! Tie a small stack of books together with your ribbon rolls and leave it as a decorative piece on a coffee or side table.

Most people have unsightly cords hanging from their electronics. Simply wrap these cords with a colorful piece of ribbon or even label them with personalized ribbon strips to make them fit in better with your decor.

Another great idea is to use personalized ribbon as trimming around your home. Use them to trim your favorite throw pillow. Wrap a ribbon roll around a decorated shoe box or other organizer. Or use them in your scrapbooks and journals. Don’t forget to use personalized ribbon rolls with names, dates or favorite quotes.

Other great ideas for your home!

Weave a small blanket from ribbons. Try a lap blanket or something more child-sized for an easy craft project. And how cute would that blanket be with custom ribbon rolls with special messages or dates and names! Don’t just settle on ribbon rolls for this project. We’ve given you this idea before, but use the ribbon rolls for bookmarks. Use two colors to weave a special bookmark for your favorite reading spot in the house. Or use a longer one for your best cookbook.

How To: Creating Custom Ribbon Ends

Printing on ribbon ends is great for awareness ribbons, wrapping gifts and using at most events.

Use these instructions if you would prefer your imprint to only appear at the ribbon ends of your project, rather than repeating over and over the entire length of your project (example: awareness ribbons).

DETERMINE YOUR LENGTH
The best way to ensure correct placement of the imprint is to create a “mock-up” using ribbon similar to the width that you will be ordering. Create the loop or bow the size that you want. If you will be tying a bow around an object, make sure you use a similarly sized object to create the mock-up. Longer words or logos will require a longer imprint area; you may need to lengthen the “tails” of your ribbon. Trim or mark the ribbon ends.

MEASURE THE GAPS
Mark where you would like the imprints to begin and end on the ribbon ends. Please note that if you are tying a bow it is harder to get the tails to hang with both imprints showing; one side tends to flip over and show the back of the ribbon instead. Once marked, untie your ribbon piece and lay it out flat. See diagrams below and left for measuring details.

LONG GAP – This is the area of ribbon where your bow or loop happens, above the tails.

SHORT GAP – This is the area of ribbon at the tip of the tail, below the imprint. If you will be cutting the ribbons at an angle (recommended to minimize fraying in most ribbons) measure from the longest point. You will then have to double that measurement to create the same distance on either side of your cut (see below).

HOW WILL IT LOOK?
We will be imprinting one length of ribbon with the long and short gaps that you specify. It can be difficult to visualize how the measurements you’ve requested will look end-to-end.

From new clothes to pens and paper, back to school needs are everywhere!

It’s that time of year again when parents are sending their kids back to school. Kids need all sorts of supplies to start the school year off right and prepared. We’re here to help the teachers and other educators get their supplies ready for back to school needs.

Customer Donations: Dorset Equine Rescue

From amazing customer service to providing donations, Coller Industries is all about helping others.

When one thinks of personalized identification, name tags come to mind almost immediately. However, personalized ribbons are a large part of identification needs as well. Coller Industries prides ourselves on our service, professionalism and production in these fantastic products. Our main focus is always helping our customers. As part of this, we often provide donations to those in need.

Once again, we were able to donate to a wonderful cause.

The Dorset Equine Rescue is a non-profit organization located in East Dorset, Vermont. The organization rescues horses and aids in the healing process which restores their health and wellness until they can be adopted.

Kayla Chilcote is hosting an event for the organization. “The mission and goals (for the event) are to raise money for the Equine Rescue so they can continue to give proper care and help pay for the costs they have to pay (for each of the horses they rehabilitate).”

The Dorset Equine Rescue strives to educate the community about all matters of horse care, health, and advocacy to continuously improve the long-honored and time-tested human-equine partnership.

The event that Chilcote is hosting in September will be to benefit the Gymkhana event. It is an event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders on horses. Often, these events emphasize children participation.

Coller Industries was able to help with the award ribbons for the event.

Stock Victory Torch Ribbons
These award ribbons can be used for any competition or event. They have an attached event card on the back and a string through the top that can be used to display the ribbon. Available in first through tenth place and other titles. Each ribbon has a pinked bottom edge in order to reduce fraying.

“(I’m very grateful that your) company helped us out so we can give the ones who compete the ribbons they deserve since they have donated to the rescue,” said Chilcote.
